Dear readers, As I wrote in the previous post, today I would like to write more about anorexia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa is a psychiatric disorder that’s defined by physical and mental characteristics. Anorexia is defined by 3 criteria:
1. restriction of energy intake that leads to low body weight (which is under 18.5 BMI for adults and for children is less that 5% for their own growth trajectory)
2. expression of fear of gaining weight, persistent, restrictive eating, excessive exercise or fasting and purging behaviors
3. a disturbance in body image which includes:
· seeing oneself as fat
· undue influence of weight ans shape on one’s self-worth
· not recognizing how dangerous low weight can be
Unfortunately, there is no single factor, but from medical way in many cases there are genes at play. From psychological factors we can highlight: perfectionism, low self-esteem, anxiety, body dissatisfaction and overemphasis on a thin body ideal. Did you know that? Would you like to read more about anorexia? Leave a comment and see you soon.

Anorexia was practically unheard of fifty years ago, which would put the genetic origin in question.
